LED light therapy has become a skincare must-have and we’re loving it. With its ability to tackle everything from pigmentation and fine lines to breakouts and dullness, LED has gone from being salon exclusive to a home skincare staple.
Recently, we tried the Sensse Beauty Elite LED Face Mask, a luxe, clinic-grade device that promises glowing, healthier-looking skin from your own home. After seeing great results with the StylPro LED Mask, we were curious to see how this next-generation version compared, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
How do LED Face Masks work?
The Elite delivers irradiance levels of 200+ mW/cm², far higher than the average home LED mask. This ensures better skin absorption of light therapy, allowing for more effective treatments in less time.
The mask includes rare wavelengths such as Cyan, Green, Yellow, and White: each tailored to specific skin concerns. It delivers delivering -grade results through 8 clinical-grade LED light modes.

What Makes the Sensse Elite LED Mask Different?
The Elite LED Face Mask takes at-home light therapy to a whole new level. Featuring 276 high-performance LEDs, it delivers powerful light energy evenly across the skin for visible results in just a few weeks.
One thing that really drew us to this is that it’s designed to address 28+ skin concerns including everything from pigmentation and redness to fine lines, acne, and uneven tone using a combination of 8 customisable colour modes.
LED colour modes include:
- Red (anti-ageing and collagen support) 630nm
- Blue (clarifying, blemish-prone skin) 465nm
- Green (brightening and tone-balancing) 520nm
- Yellow (revitalising and soothing)
- Cyan (calming) 465 + 520nm
- Purple LED (revitalising) 465+630nm
- NIR (anti-ageing) 850nm
- White (revitalising and diminishing puffiness) 465+630+520nm
There are 8 modes which use a combination of each colour and Near Infrared, which penetrates deeper into the skin. Each mode can be adjusted through three intensity levels, making it suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin.
How It Works (and What It Does for Your Skin)
The Sensse Elite LED Mask features soft, medical-grade silicone which sits nicely on the face without weighing you down. It’s wireless and travel-friendly, which is fabulous.
It’s so easy to use, you can do anything from relaxing in bed with this mask on to even slipping it on when you’re working from home… making it easy to slip into your skincare routine. If bright LEDs usually bother your eyes, don’t worry: this mask blocks out the light completely around the eyes. I even had to lift it off just to check the top section was on (it was).
Love that you can also customise the intensity to based on your needs. It has so many different settings, you use each setting for a week and it would take you months to try them all.
Within a few weeks of consistent use, I noticed that my skin felt brighter and more even, although the changes were subtle. You’ll still need to have a good skincare routine to work alongside this, but I like to think this mask is working on a deeper level of your skin to help enhance the skincare products you’re already using.
Blue Light and Melanin-Rich Skin
LED masks harness light energy to address everything from breakouts to dullness. Each colour wavelength penetrates the skin at different depths, but it’s important to note that blue light, while effective for acne, can occasionally trigger hyperpigmentation in deeper skin tones. Those with melanin-rich skin should seek professional guidance before using blue LED settings.
“At home LED masks are designed for general public use and as such do not possess the energy levels which the professional LED lights do. There is no clinical research providing evidence that those with melanin-rich skin in the Fitzpatrick types 4 to 6 categories are at higher risk of hyperpigmentation or other adverse reactions whilst using at home LED lights.
I recommend that people who are prone to pigmentation and pigmented lesions such as melasma use the red LED 3 to 4 times weekly for 10 minutes, because we know that red LED penetrates deep into the dermis and increases cell turnover, providing powerful rejuvenating benefits for this type of skin,” says Dermatology Nurse Practitioner and Founder of the Emma Coleman Skin Clinic Group.
If you’re looking for an at-home LED mask that feels indulgent yet delivers real, professional-grade results, the Sensse Beauty Elite LED Face Mask is a great one to to consider. Its combination of 8 light modes, adjustable intensity, and high LED density makes it one of the most advanced on the market.
Want to do a comparison? We also tested the StylPro Wavelength LED Face Mask, another impressive at-home option, with less colour wavelengths but at a more affordable price point.
