When it comes to my skincare I am very particular: I’ve been in the business long enough to recognise good products when I come across them – and this is especially important as the founder of a beauty and wellbeing Ezine. There are a lot of good products on the market that deliver satisfactory Skincare but it’s not often that you come across products that deliver more than you expected. When it comes to cleansers, I expect more than just nicely cleansed skin because almost any cleanser can deliver that.
As a judge for the Beauty Shortlist Awards, I have the privilege and the pleasure of getting to try lots of different products & This ‘Pot of Gold’ cleansing balm from Karmic Skin is one of those products that I haven’t been able to put down.
Karmic is an Ayurvedic inspired South Asian brand inspired by generations of maternal beauty and wellbeing practices. The ingredients are traditionally used in south Asian beauty and wellbeing.
Key Ingredients
- Neem – protect against aging, soothing, anti-inflammatory, prevents blemishes, improves elasticity.
- TriphAla – nourishes, anti-inflammatory, exfoliation, deep clean.
- Kokum butter – one of the lighter butters, kokum is reputed to be a powerful moisturiser that is easily absorbed, good for inflammation, good for treating acne and also for reducing signs of aging in the skin.
- Sal butter – comes from the shorea robusta tree in India – it’s high in oleic and stearic acid making it a great moisturiser and it has natural squalene which is good for skin barrier function.
The first thing that you’ll notice about this is it’s gorgeous fragrance which is comforting and soothing…probably thanks to the mix of various butters and oils like neroli. Next is the beautiful golden colour.
The texture is a little unusual for a cleansing balm in that it’s firm and dense which makes you want to use a small spoon or spatula to scoop it out, plus you only need a pea sized amount Apparently this is one of the benefits of a waterless product.
How to use:
Wet your face, Scoop a pea sized bit out and add a little water, rub your hands together and it turns into a lather.
Apply to your face and it will continue to lather (I like to use a muslin cloth) massage it all over your face and enjoy the scent & texture. Then rinse and voila – silky, soft deeply cleansed skin.
What’s to love:
- Gorgeous fragrance
- Delivers a beautifully cleansed skin
- Vegan
- A little goes a long way
Honestly my combination skin LOVES IT!
